Breaking Barriers. Keeping Young Players in the Game.
The Tees Valley Tennis Foundation is a registered charity supporting young people aged 8–18 across the Tees Valley and the surrounding area with the cost of playing and progressing in tennis and padel.

We exist to remove financial barriers that can prevent children and teenagers from starting or continuing in the sport.
Costs such as coaching, equipment, tournament entry fees and travel can quickly add up, and for many families this becomes the difference between continuing and dropping out.
The Foundation provides targeted financial support to help cover these costs, ensuring that tennis and padel remain accessible to those who would otherwise struggle to afford them.
The Foundation is preparing its first round of funding.
Applications will open once initial funding has been secured, with the aim of awarding our first grants in summer 2026.
Why Our Work Matters
Across the Tees Valley, including areas such as Middlesbrough and Hartlepool, many communities face some of the highest levels of economic deprivation in England. Lower household incomes, limited access to facilities and higher travel costs all create barriers to participation in sport.
In tennis and padel, these barriers can quickly become decisive. The cost of coaching, equipment, competition entry and travel means that many young people are unable to start or are forced to stop despite wanting to continue.
The Foundation exists to address this directly by providing financial support where it is needed most, helping young people to stay involved in the sport.
