Support and Applications

Tees Valley Tennis Foundation supports young people aged 8–18 where cost is a barrier to taking part in tennis or padel.

Applications for Support Are Now Open

Parents and guardians can now apply to the Foundation for support with costs that may be making it difficult for a young person to take part in tennis or padel.

We can consider requests relating to:

  • coaching and participation;
  • tennis or padel equipment;
  • competition and tournament costs;
  • travel connected with tennis or padel; and
  • other reasonable costs that may be creating a financial barrier to participation or progression.

Every application will be considered individually. Submitting an application does not guarantee that support will be awarded, and we may not always be able to provide the type or full level of support requested.

Who Can Apply?

TVTF supports young people who:

  • are aged 8-18;
  • live at a TS postcode address, or meet any additional geographical eligibility criteria stated for a particular support opportunity;
  • take part in, or would like to take part in, tennis or padel; and
  • face a financial barrier that may prevent them from starting, continuing or progressing in the sport.

Applications for a child or young person should normally be submitted by a parent or guardian.

If you are applying for more than one child, please submit a separate application for each young person.

What Support Can We Consider?

Financial barriers can affect young players in different ways, so applications are not limited to one particular type of support.

Coaching and Participation

We can consider support towards coaching, sessions, programmes or other reasonable participation costs where cost is making it difficult for a young person to start, continue or progress.

Equipment

Applications can include requests for essential tennis or padel equipment where the cost is creating a barrier to participation.

Competitions and Tournaments

We can consider reasonable costs associated with taking part in appropriate tennis or padel competitions or tournaments, including entry fees.

Travel

Where travel costs are creating a financial barrier, applicants can ask us to consider support towards reasonable travel connected with tennis or padel activities or competitions.

Other Support

We recognise that circumstances differ. The application form also allows parents and guardians to tell us about another tennis or padel-related financial barrier that does not fit neatly into the categories above.

How Applications Are Considered

Applications are assessed by the Tees Valley Tennis Foundation trustees in line with the charity's eligibility criteria and grant-making arrangements.

We will consider factors including:

  • the financial barrier described;
  • how the requested support could help the young person start, continue or progress in tennis or padel;
  • the purpose and reasonableness of the request;
  • whether the application meets our eligibility criteria; and
  • the funding available to the Foundation at the time.

We may contact you if we need further information before reaching a decision. Please make sure you provide up-to-date contact details when completing an application form.

Meeting the eligibility criteria does not automatically mean that an application will be approved. The Foundation has limited funds and may be unable to support every application it receives.

Where support is approved, the amount or type of support offered may differ from what was originally requested.

Previous Support

Tennis World Summer Camp Support

In summer 2026, TVTF worked with Tennis World & Middlesbrough Padel Club on our first summer camp support pilot.

The Foundation funded a limited number of summer camp day places for young people who may otherwise have struggled with the cost of attending. The pilot formed part of our early work to understand local need and develop practical ways of reducing financial barriers to tennis and padel.

Applications for this programme are now closed.

Privacy and Personal Information

We take the privacy and safeguarding of young people seriously.

The application form explains what information we need and how it will be used. Where support is approved, limited information may sometimes need to be shared with a relevant club, coach, activity provider or other delivery partner in order to arrange that support.
