Working Together to Remove Barriers
Tees Valley Tennis Foundation is grateful to the organisations and funders helping us remove financial barriers to tennis and padel.
The organisations listed on this page have each contributed in a different way, from local facilities and awareness to grant funding, expertise and support. Their involvement helps TVTF create more practical opportunities for young people across Teesside and the wider Tees Valley.
Tennis World & Middlesbrough Padel Club
Tennis World & Middlesbrough Padel Club is a long-established racket sports venue in Middlesbrough, with roots dating back to 1923. Today, the venue has indoor and outdoor tennis courts, covered padel courts, coaching and group sessions, alongside its clubhouse and social facilities.
Tennis World was Tees Valley Tennis Foundation's first Community Charity Partner and has supported the Foundation from an early stage. The relationship has helped TVTF raise awareness locally, provided a venue for Foundation activity and, importantly, created our first opportunity to put practical support into action.
In summer 2026, Tennis World worked with TVTF to deliver our first summer support pilot, giving young people from across Teesside funded access to a day of tennis and padel during the school holidays. The pilot also gave the Foundation valuable early experience of handling applications, assessing eligibility, communicating with families and working alongside an established local provider.
As TVTF develops, Tennis World remains an important early supporter while the Foundation continues building relationships with clubs, coaches and venues across the wider Tees Valley.
Direct Tennis
Direct Tennis, part of Direct Sports, is a specialist tennis retailer based in Wynyard, supplying tennis rackets, footwear, clothing and equipment to customers across the United Kingdom. Its local operation also offers Click & Collect and racket restringing services.
Its Tees Valley base makes the relationship particularly relevant to TVTF. Direct Tennis brings specialist knowledge of tennis equipment and provides the Foundation with a useful point of contact when particular equipment needs arise through our support work.
The relationship also includes helping to raise awareness of TVTF. Through its own channels, Direct Tennis can help introduce the Foundation to more players, families and people already engaged with tennis, particularly at times when we are looking to make eligible families aware that applications for support are open.
For TVTF, that combination of local presence, tennis expertise and awareness support adds another useful connection within the region’s wider tennis community.
Surridge Sport
Surridge Sport is a British sportswear and teamwear brand with a history stretching back over 150 years. From its origins in cricket, the Surridge name has developed into a modern sportswear business supplying clubs, schools, universities and organisations across a wide range of sports.
Surridge began supporting Tees Valley Tennis Foundation during the charity’s first year, recognising that the barriers preventing a young person from taking part in sport are not always limited to coaching fees or court costs.
Surridge's support gives TVTF another way to respond when clothing forms part of the wider financial barrier facing a young person applying to the Foundation.
All assistance remains part of TVTF's normal application and assessment process, rather than operating as a separate scheme.
We are grateful to Surridge for backing the Foundation at an early stage and helping us broaden the practical support we can consider for young people in tennis and padel.
Funders
TVTF is also grateful to organisations that have provided grant funding to support our work.
- Barclays Community Sport Fund, delivered in partnership with Sported - supporting opportunities for girls and young women to access tennis and padel.
- Tees Foundation, including its Tees Million award - supporting eligible young people through local grant funding.
- Stockton on Tees Borough Council - supporting the Foundation through local community funding.
